March 6, 2017Greetings Nonprofit Community,
As most of you know, the next DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership (DCNP) giving day will be held on May 4, 2017. These four months will pass quickly, but fortunately planning for Give DeKalb County is already well underway!
Whether you have participated since 2014 or are brand new to Give DeKalb County, we wanted to use this opportunity to share some details with you:
What is Give DeKalb County?
Give DeKalb County—the new name and logo for this event—is a 24-hour philanthropic giving day in which donors give to participating nonprofits online or in-person at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. We have coordinated giving days in May of each year since 2014 that have raised more than $737,000 combined.
Who can participate?
Any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization—located in or primarily serving DeKalb County—that is a 2017 DCNP member can register for Give DeKalb County. Donors of all ages, from all over the world can also participate by giving on May 4.
How much does it cost?
Your participation fee is determined by a sliding scale based on your organization’s budget. Click here to view the fee structure. You may notice a difference from last year’s participation fee. With three years of experience coordinating giving days, we now have a better understanding of the costs associated with these events. In an attempt to be more realistic about those costs, the participation fee was increased. As always, you do not have to pay this fee upfront; instead, it will simply be subtracted from the amount you raise on May 4.
What resources are available to me?
We partner with GiveGab to make Give DeKalb County possible. Each month leading up to May 4, GiveGab will conduct a training webinar on topics that are designed to help you prepare. After registering to participate, you will begin receiving frequent emails from the Giving Day Team at GiveGab. These emails include valuable information and links to toolkits, resources, and more. Of course, if you prefer to go at it alone, you can always unsubscribe to the emails.
What else should I know?
Here are few more points for you to consider:
- A kickoff session will be held at the DeKalb County Community Foundation on January 18 (3-4:30 p.m.). This will be a blended session with some in-person remarks and our GiveGab Project Manager joining us remotely. She will walk through the new platform and show you how to register your organization.
- The Give DeKalb County Committee has been instrumental in the planning efforts so far. Thank you to the following DCNP members who serve on that committee:
- Michelle Donahoe (Chair)
- Joyce Mathey
- Susan Petersen
- Brian Reis
- Lisa Seymour
- Lynette Spencer
- Nathan Tripp
- Drew Wells
- We are pleased to once again offer a bonus pool of funds through Give DeKalb County. Previously referred to as the proportional match, the bonus pool ensures donor dollars go a little bit further on May 4, 2017!
Register now to attend the Give DeKalb County kickoff session on January 18 and remember: Your organization must be a DCNP member by March 1, 2017 in order to participate in Give DeKalb County!
We hope 2017 is off to a productive start for you all and we look forward to collaborating with you on Give DeKalb County!
Sincerely,
Ben Bingle
