Jesse Moore is a Senior at NIU studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
This fall, Jesse participated in the Internship Program and was paired with The Egyptian Theatre. Here is what Jesse had to say about his internship experience:
Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?
Jesse: I have a marketing project where I track in Excel which shows I’ve fully marketed and which need attention. I am also responsible for increasing engagement on social media, for example I post to the blog on our website.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Jesse: Getting to work directly with our patrons, by selling merchandise, scanning tickets at the front door, or from behind the concessions stand.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Jesse: I work closely with my Executive Director, so that’s awesome! He gives me helpful direction with my projects so that they come out better. Being able to make mistakes and to learn from them now is way better than doing that while someone is paying me a salary and expecting me to know everything.
Q: Please share any additional comments you have about your internship experience.
Jesse: Thank you so much for the opportunity. I came to this school standing on the generosity of others and I now have this internship opportunity under similar circumstances. Without this type of strategic philanthropy, I would not be able to fulfill my potential. And so, for this opportunity I’m deeply grateful, and with my deepest gratitude, I want to thank you.
