January 5, 2018Marty Miller is a Senior at NIU studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
This fall, Marty participated in the Internship Program and was paired with The Tails Humane Society and took on the role of Marketing and Development Intern. Here is what Marty had to say about his internship experience:
Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?
Marty: I am working on monthly newsletters to our donors and adopters. I am also continually working to keep animal photos updated on the Tails website. I just started a project to see how the process of trademarking a name and logo works.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Marty: The biggest benefit of this internship experience is the ability to gain real life experiences in how a nonprofit operates behind the scenes. The ability to gain professional development through this internship program is priceless.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Marty: Students should pursue internship opportunities to gain real life experiences in their field of choice, so that they can be sure that it is the right field for them.
Q: Please share any additional comments you have about your internship experience.
Marty: Roberts Family Foundation – Thank you for supporting student development through the internship program. Without you, I would not have been able to gain this priceless professional development experience.
