Nonprofits in the Digital Age – Focus Group Opportunity
January 5, 2018
DCNP Member Reception – February 15
February 6, 2018Nya Taylor is a Senior at NIU studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
This fall, Nya participated in the Internship Program and was paired with Cor Contiamo where she took on the role as the Management and Administration Intern. Here is what Nya had to say about her internship experience:
Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?
Nya: I have written two press releases, one of which was presented in the Daily Chronicle. I have assessed Cor Contiamo’s website and presented flaws on the site page, then helped to fix them. I have assisted in operational planning and developed a sheet that lists the steps of creating a strategic plan. Additionally, I have registered Cor Cantiamo in Guidestar.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Nya: The biggest benefit of this internship experience is the ability to gain real life experiences in how a nonprofit operates behind the scenes. The ability to gain professional development through this internship program is priceless.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Nya: Students should pursue internship opportunities to gain real life experiences in their field of choice, so that they can be sure that it is the right field for them.
Thank you Nya for sharing your experience with us! A special thank you to the Doug and Lynn Roberts Family foundation for their on-going support of this unique collaboration.
