Give DeKalb County – Yard Signs
March 23, 2018Alexis Marcotte is a Senior at NIU studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
This spring, Alexis participated in the Internship Program and was paired with The Family Service Agency of DeKalb County. Here is what Alexis had to say about her internship experience:
Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?
Alexis: A project that I have been working on is the Bowling For Kids’ Sake fundraiser. I helped my supervisor with many things like labeling banners and decorating raffle boxes.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Alexis: The coolest part about my internship has to be my role in preparing for Bowling For Kids’ Sake fundraiser. It was an awesome experience seeing all of the sponsors and families come out to support our cause.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Alexis: Students should pursue internship opportunities because they are basically the bridge to a job after college. If you have a completed internship in your back pocket, it shows potential employers that you are driven and have the work ethic to be hired.
Q: Please share any additional comments about your internship experience.
Alexis: I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to show my desire to make the world a better place through this internship. Without the support of the Doug and Lynn Roberts Family Foundation, I don’t know if I would have the same experience to make the difference that I hope to make in the world one day.
