Intern Spotlight – Angela Scroggins

Angela Scroggins is a Senior at NIU studying Corporate Communications.

This spring, Angela participated in the Internship Program and was paired with Kishwaukee United Way. Here is what Angela shared about her internship experience:

Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?

Angela:  I am lucky enough to be able to work on various tasks. I help promote and advertise the local reference and referral hotline “211”, I’m planning for “Money Smart Week” as well. This teaches financial literacy to people interested in learning in DeKalb County. Also, I am assisting in preparation for ARTigras.

Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?

Angela: The trainings and meetings I am able to go to. Also, Dawn, she is awesome and like a mentor to me.

Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?

Angela: They are a great way to get experience in the workforce. You get to network and meet amazing people that can have a positive impact on your life and career. Also, you are able to find out what you do and don’t like.

Q: Please share any additional comments about your internship experience.

Angela: Thank you so much for your generous support! Because of this program, I am able to obtain experience, meet amazing people, and realize what I feel like I’m meant to do in this life. Once again, thank you!
