Jenise Lorenzy is a Senior at NIU studying Nonprofit and NGO Studies.
This summer, Jenise participated in the Internship Program and was paired with the Joseph F. Glidden Homestead. Here is what Jenise had to say about her internship experience:
Q: What projects are you working on as an intern?
Jenise: My title is intern. The project I am working on is helping the Glidden Homestead develop an interactive tour for second graders. I also participated in Museum Day at the DeKalb County Community Foundation.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Jenise: The best part of my internship so far is the ability to attend workshops through the DCNP. Also, being able to create a program which is going to be amazing.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Jenise: Students should pursue internship opportunities so they get the hands on experience in a workplace environment. This will help in many different aspects such as resume building and an understanding of what nonprofit work truly looks like.
Q: Please share any additional comments about your internship experience.
Jenise: Thank you so much for allowing me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of what it will be like when I go into the workforce. The experience of interning I will carry with me for years to come.
