February 21, 2020Armando is a Senior at Northern Illinois University who is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Sociology and Nonprofit and NGO Studies. He recently interned at Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois through the Internship Program for the Fall 2019 semester.
Here is what Armando had to say about his recent internship experience:
Q: What projects did you work on as an intern?
Armando: As an intern I worked on the Girls Scouts recruitment pipeline system, translating documents to Spanish, and researching potential corporate donors.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Armando: Being able to get insight as to the way an organization like the Girl Scouts carry out their operations.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Armando: Internships provide you with career opportunities that otherwise would have never came to mind. It allows for further professional development that can’t be learned in a classroom.
Q: Please share any additional comments you have about your internship experience.
Armando: I would like to thank the Roberts Family Foundation for the support of not just students but the community as well. Through these internships students are able to lessen the workload from these organizations that do so much for our communities. Through these internships students develop an interest for public service that in turn creates civic leaders. This would not have been possible without your support, thank you!
