May 2, 2020Gilda is a Senior at Northern Illinois University who is majoring in Accountancy and minoring in Spanish and LATS. She is interning at Tanzania Development Support through the Internship Program for the Spring 2020 semester.
Here is what Gilda had to say about her internship experience:
Q: What projects have you been working on as an intern?
Gilda: As the intern of TDS, I am working with on a variety of different projects. The first couple of projects that we worked on were two databases that needed to be sorted through and some data cleaning. I decided to help them with their databases because it is something that I have a little knowledge in since some of my accountancy course work focuses on data cleaning and transformation.
Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the coolest part of your internship experience?
Gilda: The coolest part of my internship is that I get to complete everything from the comfort of my own home. I’m not mobile on campus so this is perfect.
Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?
Gilda: I believe students should pursue internship opportunities to grow as a person and to learn how things are done outside of the university. Sooner or later, we all will be taking full time job employment, so being able to take advantage of gaining an experience is awesome.
Q: Please share any additional comments you have about your internship experience.
Gilda: Thank you to the Roberts Family Foundation for supporting the education of students at NIU!
