Isabel is a Political Science major at Northern Illinois University with a minor in Art. She serves as an intern with Safe Passage as part of the Internship Program.

Q: What project(s) are you working on as an intern?

Isabel: As a marketing intern, I work on projects related to promoting Safe Passage’s mission. Projects I have worked on include designing covers for social media posts and working on promotional materials for Safe Passage’s Love Over Violence event.

Q: What is the biggest benefit and/or the best part of your internship experience?

Isabel: My favorite part is the people and the calm, welcoming environment. I am learning about the logistics involved in organizing events for the community, the knowledge of which will help me in all areas of life where I find myself organizing. I am also learning about how domestic violence centers serve survivors and the wide range of services they require.

Q: In your opinion, why should students pursue internship opportunities?

Isabel: Students should pursue internship opportunities because they are a stepping stone to a good job after graduating.
