Give DeKalb County Prizes
March 29, 2024Abigail is a Political Science major at Northern Illinois University. She’s interning with Family Service Agency as part of the Internship Program.
Q: What project(s) are you working on as an intern?
A: Currently I am assisting in Erin’s Law at the local schools. I go with my organization to different school in DeKalb County and spread awareness about child abuse and things to do if you are ever in dangerous situations.

A: My favorite part about my internship is how involved I am allowed to be in different projects. Every time I am at my internship I am always doing something different. When I am at my internship I feel like I am making a contribution to something I am passionate about.
A: Students should pursue internship opportunities because internships teach you skills that you could never get solely by sitting in a classroom. It will give you hands-on learning experiences that you will carry with you into your future careers.
A: Thank you for making this opportunity possible. I would have never had this learning experience without the support of the Roberts Family Foundation.
The Internship Program is a collaboration between the DeKalb County Nonprofit Partnership, the Center for Nonprofit and NGO Studies, and Career Services at Northern Illinois University, supported by the Douglas C. and Lynn M. Roberts Family Foundation.
