Sign Up for Nonprofit Day 2026!
August 20, 2026A: I was a marketing intern at the Egyptian Theatre. In my role, I have completed interviews via email to groups that either perform or host events at the venue, as well as new businesses in our community. This allows engagement and connection for the theatre. It also allows for patrons to get e glimpse of what the performers or business owners feel due to these interviews being posted on the official site once completed. I also wrote many thank you cards to members that support the theatre to show our appreciation for all they contribute to the venue.
A: My favorite part about the internship is being able to be a part of the reason the show goes on. Although my contribution is very small compared to the staff and board, the tasks I do handle make the organization run just a little smoother.
A: Students should pursue internship opportunities to first, gain experience in a field that interests them. Secondly, (for nonprofit majors/minors specifically) to serve their communities. Lastly, to get a foot in the door at what life after college could look like rather they stick with their internship or, move elsewhere, learning what’s ahead while you have not yet had to give students a glimpse into the future and overall, better prepares them for life.
A: Thank you so much for your support of this program. I have been able to make connections, learn more about my minor and major all in one. This is a great experience and opportunity, and I hope this program and course continues to thrive for students as well as nonprofit organizations here in DeKalb.
